SY Travels is an accredited travel agency, distributing air tickets through the Amadeus GDS global distribution system, in accordance with IATA rules and resolutions. This page sets out the regulatory framework applicable to our ticketing activities and the rights of passengers.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is the global air transport association, bringing together more than 290 airlines representing approximately 83% of global air traffic. Founded in 1945, IATA establishes the standards, procedures and regulations governing the air transport sector, in particular:

SY Travels holds an active Amadeus GDS accreditation, renewed annually. This accreditation certifies that SY Travels meets the technical, commercial and ethical requirements imposed on travel agents partnered with Amadeus.

SY Travels acts as agent (mandataire) of the airlines for the issuance of tickets. This status entails:
Ticketing mandate
SY Travels issues tickets in the name and on behalf of the air carriers, in accordance with the fares and conditions defined by each airline. SY Travels is not a carrier and assumes no liability for the performance of the carriage (delays, cancellations, loss of baggage).
Obligations of the accredited agent
As an accredited agent, SY Travels is required to: comply with the airlines' fare conditions without modifying them; collect the exact amount of the ticket and airport taxes; remit the funds to the airlines via the BSP within the regulatory time limits; keep issuance records in accordance with IATA rules.
Service fees
SY Travels may charge service fees in addition to the ticket price, as remuneration for its advisory, search and issuance services. These fees are systematically communicated to the client before the booking is finalised and are shown separately on the invoice.
As a passenger having booked through SY Travels, you benefit from the following protections, defined by international air transport regulations:
In the event of a flight cancellation by the airline, the passenger is entitled, depending on the airline and the applicable regulations, to choose between:
SY Travels assists its clients in exercising these rights with the airlines concerned.
In the event of involuntary denied boarding, the passenger is entitled to compensation and care in accordance with the airline's general conditions of carriage and the regulations in force.
For significant delays, IATA member airlines may be required to provide assistance (meals, refreshments, accommodation depending on the length of the delay) under their general conditions of carriage.
The rules relating to baggage allowances and delayed, damaged or lost baggage are defined by the Montreal Convention of 1999 (or the Warsaw Convention for non-signatory carriers) and the general conditions of carriage of each airline. SY Travels informs its clients of these conditions before issuance.
| Situation | Applicable rule |
|---|---|
| Change within 5 hours following issuance | Possible subject to the fare conditions of the ticket and payment of the applicable reissuance fees |
| Change after 5 hours | Subject exclusively to the conditions of the fare purchased (flexible, semi-flexible or non-changeable) |
| Refund — refundable fare | Refund of the ticket less the airline's cancellation fees and SY Travels' service fees |
| Refund — non-refundable fare | No refund of the ticket; airport taxes may be recoverable depending on the airline |
| No-show (failure to appear for departure) | Ticket generally forfeited; return tickets or connections potentially cancelled automatically by the airline |
Important: SY Travels systematically informs the client of the nature of the fare (refundable or not) before confirmation of the booking. The client acknowledges this by completing payment.
International air transport is governed by the Montreal Convention of 1999, ratified by the majority of States, which sets the limits of liability of air carriers in the event of death or injury of passengers, delay, and destruction, loss of or damage to baggage and cargo.
In its capacity as intermediary, SY Travels is not a party to these conventions and cannot be held liable for damage falling within the liability of the air carrier. SY Travels nevertheless assists its clients in their claims against the airlines.
For any question or complaint relating to a ticket issuance or an SY Travels service:
For unresolved disputes, the Commercial Court of Abidjan (Tribunal Commercial d'Abidjan) has jurisdiction, with Ivorian law applicable in addition to the international air transport conventions.
